Published ninth plate ambrotype image of a Civil War soldier. This image was formerly in the collection of noted Confederate collector and author William A. Albaugh, and was published in his book “More Confederate Faces,” where it was labeled as a “Confederate from the Deep South.” The soldier and type of uniform remain unidentified, and recently there has been a thought that this uniform is actually an example of a Massachusetts State Militia uniform. The image is in good shape with some slight emulsion cracking, and is housed in a very nice thermoplastic case. Condition II
