CDV (carte de visite) photograph of Confederate General Felix Zollicofer. Zollicofer, a Tennessean, was the first Confederate commander in the southeastern part of Kentucky. He led Confederate forces in several battles including Wildcat Mountain, then advanced to the area of Somerset early in 1862. On January 19, 1862 Zollicofer’s army was defeated at the Battle of Mill Springs and Zollicofer was killed. The CDV shows Zollicofer in his Tennessee Brigadier-General uniform. There is no backmark, and the CDV has some foxing on the back. The lower two corners are trimmed. Condition II
