This memorial is on a mountain in Germany and was erected to honor Kaiser Wilhelm I, but also symbolizes a legend of German Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa. The myth says that Friedrich Barbarossa is magically hidden in the mountain and will come forth to save Germany in its time of greatest need. Didn’t work during the Third Reich, though!
